Biographical note

Mireille Loup is a visual artist.

Born in Switzerland, she lives and works in Arles, France.

Photographer, audiovisual director, author of short stories and novels, designer of visual and sound system installations, photographic set and texts, Internet fictions, iPad applications, 3D virtual reality, designer, Mireille Loup’s art deals with discursive and aesthetic forms that establish transversal communication.

Her work is exhibited in art centers, museums and festivals such as Les Rencontres d'Arles 2005 and 2012, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil), Musée Malraux (France), Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain de la Ville de Liège (Belgium), the Centre National des Arts du Canada in Ottawa etc. It is present in many public and private collections, including the Fond National d’Art Contemporain in France (FNAC) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Her work has been shown in galleries in France and abroad since 1991, and her books started being published in 1999 by Filigranes Editions, Où sont les enfants? and Images Plurielles. The following galleries, listed in a chronological and non-exhaustive order, have accompanied her artistic approach, Chez Valentin (Paris), Les Filles du Calvaire (Paris), Magda Danysz (Paris-Shanghai), Rutger Brandt (Amsterdam), Dear Gallery (Porto), Pobeda Gallery (Moscow).

Having graduated from the National School of Photography (Arles, Fr.) in 1994, after studying at the ERG - Saint Luc Institute in Brussels, and at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Caen, Mireille Loup teaches in higher education of the académie Aix-Marseille since 2008, History of visual arts, Audiovisual and Photographic Production, drawing and digital retouching. She gives workshops in various Higher Schools of Art and has followed the VAE candidates of the National School of Photography for eleven years.

Sensitive to the issues of childhood and situations of disability, she regularly takes care of artistic workshops with children, adolescents and adults in the ULIS and TEDO programs.
